I saw it on TV as a kid in the 70s. And I had all the toys, and I had a planet of the apes lunch pail for school. I was really into it. But I was still a little too young to understand the conflict between religion and evolution. And I proceeded to go through the public school system, and they were teaching us about all these ape men that we had supposedly evolved from. I was told that if anyone didn't believe it then they were basically stupid. I remember when my mom said that she didn't believe it, and I felt embarrassed because my mom was stupid in my mind. But, in time, I came to not believe it, either. To me, planet of the apes is just some fun memories from childhood. But I don't believe that it's based on any facts. I think God created us just the way we are.😊 I am concerned, though, that we are going to "finally, really, blow it up" just like he said at the end.

I like Jake as a supporting character for Benjamin Sisko, but episodes based around him usually bore me to tears. The Visitor is probably the only exception, the only one I can think of anyway, and it's mainly because of the other actor who plays an older Jake.

“To the Death” is one of the few Trek episodes (the other being “Blood Oath”) that were cut for violence. I wonder if the cut footage exists? I’m really enjoying you watching DS9 - for me its the best of the series.

34:04 „only 36 Mio. budget“ 😂 - the Roger Moore-Bond movie of the same year had a budget of 27,5 Mio. Dollar; NSNA had a third more. We are in 1983 and not 2023: 36 Mio. was a huge budget ! Think about this: the first Terminator movie was released one year after NSNA - and has a budget of 6,4 Mio. Dollar; that‘s a sixth ! Inflation-adjusted Thunderball would had a budget of around 20 Mio. Dollar in 1983 and 44 Mio. nowadays.

When I saw this in the theater many years ago I had an incredible experience. The audience was so hyped and (apparently full of Trekkies), that they actually cheered and clapped loudly at every name appearing in the starting credits! Like it was a live show! Never happened to me before, and never since. It was a wondrous experience to what turned out to be one of the very best Trek movies.

"TTD" definitely had a great WTF moment and we learned a lot about the Jem'Hadar (Their First was in "The Mod Squad) "The Quickening" I believe was to show that Starfleet's Almighty technology can't fix everything, and for Bashir to evolve and grow, and sometimes a pragmatic solution is better than defeat.

The pinnacle of Star Trek, imo. This has always been my favorite crew and show of the IP and Sisko has always been the Captain I think is the greatest. He was a warrior, diplomat, religious figure, mentor, and father. And he did them all exceptionally well.

In general I don’t care for the movie but there were some things I liked about this: - Unlike the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy which reverted to the Rebel Alliance vs Empire status quo (only new names and uniforms), I liked how this showed Neo’s efforts to secure peace in Revolutions wasn’t for naught and there’s now a society of humans and synthetics trying to rebuild the real world. - I might get ripped to pieces for saying this but I actually prefer this film’s depiction of Neo’s life within the Matrix over the first one’s. I just think having him stuck in this life for more screentime that established him caught in a depressing loop with little variation and the Machines working to assuage him everything’s okay/gaslighting him from the truth was a bit more effective this time. - I preferred the build up to Neo and Trinity’s romance, particularly that scene of just them talking in the coffee shop and bonding.

It's worth noting that Frank's boss (the guy into making television for pets) is played by Robert Mitchum, best known for his roles in noir and classic thrillers like the original Cape Fear and Night of the Hunter- both of which are worth putting on a to-watch list if you've never seen them before.

I think this is the best movie as a TNG movie, despite several flaws. It's really the only one that feels like TNG. Partly it's having the D and not that hideous over testosteroned warship that is the E. But more importantly, it still felt like the ensemble show TNG was, not the Picard/Data/Worf power trio the movies became. Data and GEORDI had an actual story here. THEY are besties, but the movies pretended like Picard and Data were. Also, while Picard had some fighting action here, it felt mostly like something a man of his age would be capable of. He even loses the fight and needs Kirk's help. He's not swinging from cables and all that other nonsense. I didn't like all that crap they added to the bridge though.

Listen carefully to Q's diatribe about being guilty of being inferior. This is s very meta speech containing many of the criticisms the show faced versus TOS from some fans. Meanwhile, I think Q must have kicked the ball into the fairway for Picard... I mean, as good as his speech to the crew in the past may have been, his behavior was way too weird for people to go to their death like that. He's exhibiting signs of hallucinating for one thing and brazenly disobeying orders, among other things.

I dont care, I like this movie a lot. It could have been better and the Nexus makes no sense, but its a lot of fun and features beautiful cinematography, a sweeping score and strong performances by Stewart, Shatner, McDowell and the TNG regulars.
